Neil’s Coffee Shop, since 1940, has held down this corner for the last 81 years. They don’t currently seem to be going anywhere and I hope that it stays that way.

It is always bustling inside Neil’s. The combination of Hunter College students, Upper East Side families, and tourists sitting at old-style New York diner booths gives the place an eclectic and warm feeling.

Here on 2nd Avenue, close to the new second avenue subway 86th street stop, is an old kosher deli that shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic. This picture was taken in early 2021, after the store had already been vacated.
